1. RULES

1.1 The Regatta will be governed by the current racing rules of sailing (RRS), as amended by the ISAF, effective January 1 of the current year, the prescriptions of the CYA, the class rules, the notice of race, except as any of these are altered by these sailing instructions.

1.2 The Regatta is designated as category A under RRS Regulation 20.3.2.


2. ENTRlES

Eligible yachts may be entered by completing registration with the Organizing Committee.


3. NOTICE TO COMPETITORS

Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice boards located at the entrance of the Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club.


4. CHANGES IN THE SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Any changes to the sailing instructions will be posted prior to 1100 hrs. on the day of the race.


5. SIGNALS MADE ASHORE

5.1 Signals made ashore will be flown from the flagstaff at TS&CC and will conform to the RRS with the following amendments.

5.2 When flag AP is displayed ashore, ‘1 minute’ is replaced with ‘not less than 45 minutes’ in the race signal AP.


6. CHECK IN/OUT AT TS&CC

6.1 All Dinghy skippers shall sign out before leaving harbour and sign in within 1 hour of the finishing time of the first boat of her starting division.


7. CHECK IN ON THE WATER

7.1 When Code Flag “L” is flown all boats will check in with the committee by sailing by the stern of the committee boat on starboard tack.


8. SCHEDULE OF RACES

8.1 A total of 1 race is scheduled. The Warning Signal for the first race will be 13:00.


9. RACE AREA

9.1 The Starting Area for the race will be discussed at the skippers meeting and drawn on the chalkboard.


10. COURSES

10.1 The course will be drawn on the chalkboard at the entrance to the club. Basically, the course will be from Humber Bay, around T1 (near the eastern gap) and back to the club. T1 is to be left to port.

10.2 The drawing will also indicate if a first mark is required.

10.3 All boats must pass on the south side of the Gibraltar Point Mark, in both directions.

10.4 Once passed the Gibraltar Point Mark for the second time, boats must pass north of the Dufferin Bell buoy.

10.5 If a first mark IS NOT required. The course will from the start line around T1 and back to the finish.

10.6 If a first mark IS required. The course will be from the start line to the first mark (Left to port if no flag is displayed and to starboard, if a green flag is displayed), on to the T1 mark and then back to the finish.


11. MARKS

11.1 The first mark (if required) will be an orange tetrahedron or a club mark.


12. THE START

12.1 The Start Line will be between the R/C's mast displaying an Orange flag and the Start Mark.

12.2 Races will be started in accordance with RRS 26. The order of Starts will be Keels and then the Dinghies. The committee will attempt to follow this schedule:

If need, the Canoes will start 3 minutes after the Dinghy Start with the raising of Pennant #3


13. RECALLS

13.1 See RRS 29. The committee will attempt to hail.

13.2 After a general recall, the recalled class will start at the end of the sequence. This modifies the RRS 29.2.


14. SHORTENED COURSE

14.1 The Race can be shortened between the committee boat and any adjacent mark. This modifies RRS 32.


15. COMMERCIAL TRAFFIC

15.1 Commercial traffic and other large boats have right of way. Please be observant!


16. FINISH LINE

16.1 The Finish Line will be between the R/C mast displaying a blue flag and the adjacent orange tetrahedron. Both will be close to the gap in the break wall nearest the club. The committee boat may be docked at the eastern club dock, with the mark outside the break wall.


17. TIME LIMIT

17.1 The time limit for the race will be three hours, boats failing to finish within 45 minutes after the first boat in her starting division finishes, or within the time limit, whichever is later, will be scored DNF. This changes RRS 35.


18. SCORING

18.1 The Standard PHRF Lake Ontario multiplier will be used for this race.


19. PROTESTS

19.1 Yachts shall notify the Race Committee at the finish line of their intention to protest unless the Protest Committee has reason to waive this requirement. All protests shall be filed with the Race Committee within 1 hour of the finishing time of the first boat of her starting division.


20. PRESENTATIONS

20.1 All other presentations will be made at the Club's annual awards banquet.

20.2 For the club boats there will be recognition for:

Best Corrected PHRF time - Spinnaker,

Best Corrected PHRF time - White Sail,

First Shark, First Dragon, First for each class of Dinghy.
