Booking Time Slots for Mast Removal

Members book reserved time slots for mast removal. Slots will be available beginning this Tuesday, October 1st until Thursday, October 17th.

To book a time slot, click to Register for your chosen time.

Your slot will be confirmed once you hear back from one of the mast crane committee members via email or Slack confirming the booking. If you have not received a confirmation reach out to Tony Gallena by email (tony.gallena@gmail.com or via Slack to confirm that a mast crane operator will be available).

Please note the instructions below

  • De-masting requires 2 volunteers in addition to the mast crane committee member
  • The mast crane committee member is the only person authorized to operate the mast crane
  • Each time-slot is 45 minutes long. This is tight, but in order to get everyone's mast down in time for Haul Out, we will need everyone to have everything ready by the time that their turn comes up. (In other words, the time that you have booked is that time that you arrive at the dock with everything prepared, as described below.)
  • At your designated time, you are expected to be at the dock and ready to de-mast. If a boat is already at the crane you may tie up on the other side or behind the boat at the crane.
  • Being ready to de-mast means that you have:
    •  Loosened all turnbuckles on side-stays, fore-stay and back-stay
    •  Removed your boom from mast
    •  Tools are on hand to complete the removal of stays and spreaders
  • Boats at the crane should have bow pointed towards the lake in prep for removal of mast
  • As mast is lowered, the bottom of mast should point towards lake to facilitate removal from boat
  • Masts that are removed must be placed on one of the designated mast racks.
  • The racks should be filled beginning with the bottom row first. All loose lines/shrouds/spreaders should be secured to mast

if you have any questions or concerns, please email mast.crane@tscc.net or send a slack message to #mast-crane-committee in Slack.
